General
Backup onto Disks.
It is vital to put aside a backup of your data at the end of each year. In several
years time, you may require this information for an audit, or for a legal case, or
for Workers’ Compensation. Most people will use diskettes, but you can use other
media such as a Memory Stick, a Zip disk or a CD. Whatever you use, clearly label
it with the date, and the PAY-PACK version number.
-
To backup onto diskettes, use the multi-diskette backup procedure in
PAY-PACK.
-
For higher capacity disks such as Memory Sticks or Zip disks, use the
one-disk backup method.
-
Backup onto CD. You cannot backup onto a CD from within PAY-PACK.
You will need to use an external burning program. Only do this if you are confident
about using such a program. It is probably best to copy the whole PAY-PACK directory
onto the CD. The files will all be read-only, so an extra step will be needed
if we ever need to restore the files.
June Month-end.
Unlike previous years, it is now vital that you initialise at the end of June. This
is because of the Superannuation Advices.
Do the monthly reports like any other month, making sure that there are no unintended
super shortfalls. Make sure that the initialisation date is 30/06/05. It is essential
that the date is in the financial year. The initialisation process, will write a
superannuation record, that will print on the Super Advice.
You can do the month-end reports and initialisation before or after you do the New
Year process.
